The U.S. military is closely watching a convoy of Iranian ships steaming toward conflict-torn Yemen with a reported shipment of humanitarian aid, NBC News reported. Iranian state media has said the Iran Shahed, escorted by Iranian warships, is bearing a humanitarian cargo for war-torn Yemen, where Houthi rebels loyal to ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh have waged a campaign against the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. But Pentagon spokesperson Col. Steve Warren said that providing warships to escort a single aid ship is "not necessary," and pointed out that a much larger convoy sent several weeks ago "provoked tensions."
