An autopsy was set for Monday after a Florida woman was found strangled in her apartment in Florence, Italian police said, NBC News reported.
Ashley Olsen, 35, was found with bruises around her neck, Florence prosecutor's office spokeswoman Maddalena Carosi told NBC News.
Local media reports said the body was found on a bed in the apartment, which is located in Florence's historic center.
La Repubblica reported that Olsen's Italian boyfriend told police that he hadn't seen her since three days earlier, when they had a fight. He is not a suspect at present, Carosi said.
Olsen was working in the fashion industry and also organized events in the art world.
