Verizon's iPhone Becomes a Reality Tonight

Tonight is finally the night for Apple fans who have boycotted AT&T for years.

Verizon will begin selling the Apple iPhone online starting at midnight pacific time Wednesday.
Some current Verizon customers will get to cut in virtual line and get their hands on a limited number of Apple smartphones that the company is putting aside for its loyal customers.

But for those who have sat on the sidelines as the Apple phone has drummed up hype and taken its fair share of shots, they will be able to get a CDMA version of the iPhone for $199 for the 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB version -- the same as AT&T.

Unlike AT&T, Verizon will offer unlimited data plans to new customers for $30 a month. The calling plans begin at $39.99 a month. The phones will ship on Feb. 10.

Verizon has played up consummation of its long-rumored relationship with Apple since formally announcing that the two would get in bed together in January.

The cell phone carrier has run commercials thanking its loyal customers for waiting for the iPhone.

Wednesday the wait finally ends.
