Caught on Camera: Cheetos-Munching Suspect Sucker Punches Victim in WeHo Store

Surveillance video and still images depict the attack and clearly show the suspect's face

The sheriff's department needs help in identifying a Cheetos-munching suspect who sucker-punched a man in a Best Buy store in West Hollywood before taking the victim's cellphone.

The violent robbery occurred about 7:50 p.m. Monday at the electronics store in the 1000 block of La Brea Avenue, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Bishop of the sheriff's West Hollywood Station.

The suspect was seen pacing throughout the store, casually eating a bag of Cheetos, before he approached a man from behind and, without apparent provocation, unleashed a punch to the head that sent the unsuspecting victim to the floor.

"After the assault, the suspect picked up the victim's cellphone and fled from the store on foot through the rear emergency exit door and out of view," Bishop said.

Surveillance video and still images depict the attack and clearly show the suspect's face.

He is described as black, about 30-35 years old with a bald head. He wore tan shorts and a black hoodie.

Anyone who knows or believes they have seen the suspect should not approach him, and instead call the West Hollywood Station at (310) 855-8850.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
