2 Shot After OC Officer-Involved Shooting Following Report of Threatening Man With Gun

Two people, including an alleged gang member, were sent to the hospital following an officer-involved shooting in Orange County Thursday morning, police said.

Both men had non-life-threatening injuries, but Orange Police Department officials could only account for how the one person was shot, according to a news release.

The incident began when officers responded to a report of a man, 23, with a firearm threatening the residents of a home in the 1900 block of East Rose Avenue at about 4:30 a.m., police said.

Police and the man had a confrontation and he did not comply with officers, according to the news release, which is when the shooting occurred. A handgun was found at the scene and police said the suspect was a known gang member.

A second person was wounded by gunfire during the incident, but it was unclear if he was shot by officers or the gunman. Police did not immediately release the identy of either wounded man.

No officers were hurt, nor were the other people in the home at the time of the shooting.
