Driver Killed After Slamming Into Work Truck on Anaheim Freeway

The driver of a sedan was killed after crashing into a Caltrans contractor's truck on Tuesday in Anaheim.

Officials responded to a crash involving a white Lexus sedan around 3:25 a.m. on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Tustin Avenue, according to the Orange County California Highway Patrol. The driver apparently failed to move to the right side of the freeway to avoid the truck, according to crash investigators.

A worker who was hitching an electronic message board sign to the truck ran for cover as the car approached, the CHP said. The worker was not injured.

Several lanes were closed following the fatal crash. Tustin Avenue's on ramp also was closed. Lanes reopened around 7 a.m.

The deceased driver was identified only as a 35-year-old Inland Empire man.
