One Killed, One Injured When Maserati Hits Tree in Long Beach

One person was killed and a second seriously injured  Friday night when a Maserati crashed into a tree in Long Beach, splitting the sports car in two.

The crash occurred about 6:55 p.m. on Los Coyotes Diagonal near Outer Traffic Circle, according to Long Beach Police Department Sgt. James Richardson. The vehicle's passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition, Richardson said.

Both victims were believed to be men, he said. The cause of the crash was under investigation and it was not immediately clear if alcohol or drugs were involved, Richardson said.
