One man died and another was transported to the hospital after a hit-and-run driver collided with another vehicle on Wednesday in Hancock Park, according to the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division.
The driver of a white pickup truck struck a pedestrian Wednesday near Beverly Boulevard and Normandie Avenue, then fled westbound on Beverly Boulevard. Driving at over 70 mph, the pickup truck collided with a blue vintage Ford Bronco traveling northbound on Highland Avenue.
Investigators said they found empty beer cans inside the hit-and-run driver's vehicle.
Witnesses said the driver of the white pickup truck was ejected from his vehicle. He died at the scene.
The other driver was taken to a nearby hospital and suffered fractured ribs. He is expected to make a full recovery. Authorities said the pedestrain who was struck by the hit-and-run driver was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The impact of the collision was so powerful, a piece of metal flew into a nearby residence and onto a child's crib.
A child was in the crib but was not struck by the object, according to authorities.

The collision was reported just before 1 a.m. near Beverly Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Both streets have been closed until further notice.
