Holiday Beach Closure: Orange County Harbour Closed Due to Sewage Spill

Officials have closed Southern California's Huntington Harbour after a blocked sewer main sent 60,000 gallons of sewage spilling into the water ahead of Labor Day weekend.

The closure applies to Anaheim Bay, Sunset Aquatic Marina, Portofino Cove, Anderson Street Marina and Mother's Beach.

The water is closed to swimmers, surfers and paddle boarders until testing determines the water quality is safe again. Officials did not provide an estimate for reopening.

Orange County Health officials said the source of the spill came from Stanton.

But the Mayor of Stanton David John Shawver says that is not accurate.

He said the spill was contained.

Shawver was told health officials could have test results in about 24 hours.

Orange County Health Agency did not immediately respond to the Stanton mayor's statements.
