Palmdale Community Mourns Kindergarten Teacher Killed in Las Vegas Massacre

The victim's husband was shot in the arm and survived.

The Palmdale community gathered on Wednesday for a vigil in honor of a beloved Kindergarten teacher after she was fatally struck during the Las Vegas massacre on Sunday.

Jenny Parks, a dedicated mother of two, was a teacher at Anaverde Hills Elementary School and is remembered for being a remarkable educator who loved her students and her family.

"She was the heart and soul of her family, her smile, her personality," Don Wilson, the family's spokesman said.

Jenny Parks and her husband Bobby Parks were excited to retreat to Las Vegas for live entertainment before the mass shooting occurred. Her husband survived after he was shot in the arm.

"Ms.Parks was the best teacher in the world," Melissa Jacinto, a student, said.

Parks' loved ones describe her as an upbeat and positive person who exemplified school pride for the elementary school she taught at. Her friends said she loved her children - both from home and from school.

"She was really nice and a fun teacher." her student Cooper Gillespie said.

Both children and adults said Parks taught them to be the best they could be and to love one another to make the world a better place.
