Pedestrian Killed in Los Angeles Freeway Hit-and-Run

The victim was found on the side of the Figueroa off-ramp on the westbound side of the 134 Freeway

A man was killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking on the 134 Freeway in Eagle Rock early Thursday.

The victim, who was not carrying identification, was found on the side of the Figueroa Street off-ramp on the westbound side at around 12:10 a.m, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Officers provided emergency resuscitation, however he died at the scene of the crash. Before being hit the victim had been reported as walking on the right shoulder of the road.

"Most people involved in hit-and-run collisions are trying to get away," said California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Bejar. "Especially if they have hit a pedestrian.

"Most people notice if they've collided with something on the freeway. If someone collides with a person, they should have noticed that they were in an accident with a person."

There is no information on the driver. Anyone with information can contact investigators at 626-296-8100.
