Pedestrian Struck by Three Vehicles Dies as One Driver Flees Scene

Police Saturday were seeking the public's help to find the driver of a white Chevy pickup involved in a hit-and-run on Century Boulevard that left a 60-year-old woman dead.

Elvia Bercian was crossing the boulevard just west of Baring Cross Street about 7:05 p.m. Friday, when she was initially struck by a Toyota Corolla, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

As she lay motionless in the road, she was run over by the driver of the pickup, who then drove away, leaving her to be struck a third time, by a red Kia Soul, police said, adding that the drivers of the Toyota and the Kia remained at the scene, where Bercian was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the LAPD's South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to the criminal conviction or resolution via civil compromise of a hit-and-run driver.
