Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Metrolink Train in El Monte

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train Tuesday afternoon in El Monte.

Firefighters responded about 3:35 p.m. to the reported collision in the 11300 block of Valley Boulevard, near Peck Road, and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

No information about the pedestrian, including age and gender, was immediately available.

The train, number 314 to downtown San Bernardino, was stopped between El Monte and Baldwin Park. Buses were being used to ferry passengers on other affected trains to their destinations, according to Metrolink.
