Pickup Truck Driver Dies in Pomona Crash

A motorist was killed today as his speeding pickup truck crashed into a second pickup and then rolled on a freeway connector road in Pomona.

The crash was on the ramp from the eastbound 10 Freeway to the southeast-bound 71 Freeway. It was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 1:18 a.m., according to a CHP crash report.

A 25-year-old man was speeding in a 1991 GMC Sierra, which sideswiped the right front of a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The speeding, out-of-control GMC ran into dirt near the end of the transition road and overturned, according to the CHP report.

The 25-year-old man was not wearing his seatbelt, and was ejected from the GMC pickup, which caused fatal injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 28-year-old woman, was not injured.
