Pittsburgh Rabbi to be Honored by Simon Wiesenthal Center

The master of ceremonies will be ABC late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

The rabbi at the Pittsburgh synagogue which was the site of the deadliest attack against the Jewish community on U.S. soil will be among the recipients of the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Medal of Valor at its annual National Tribute Dinner Wednesday night at The Beverly Hilton.

Rabbi Jeffrey Myers is the spiritual leader of the Tree of Life*Or L'Simcha Congregation where 11 people were killed and seven injured in a mass shooting on Oct. 27, 2018.

The medal will also be awarded to Kurt Kleinman, who is among the "One Thousand Children" rescued from Germany and other Nazi-occupied European nations from 1934-45 who came unaccompanied to the United States and left their parents behind in Europe, and immigrant rights activist Florence Phillips.

The Walt Disney Co. Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger will receive the center's highest honor, the Humanitarian Award, for his commitment to the Simon Wiesenthal Center and its Museum of Tolerance.

The Westside-based Simon Wiesenthal Center is an international Jewish human rights organization that combats hate and anti-Semitism around the world.

The Museum of Tolerance is a human rights laboratory and educational center dedicated to challenging visitors to understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts and confront all forms of prejudice and discrimination.
