Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Man in Brea Accused of Raping 10-Year-Old Girl

Brea police were asking the public for help on Wednesday to identify any potential victims after an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a 10-year-old girl.

Eric Romero was arrested Feb. 26 after an investigation indicated Romero allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the girl, who was a family friend, according to the Brea Police Department.

Initially, Romero was arrested Feb. 23 on suspicion of lewd acts with the girl. Romero posted bond for release from jail, according to the Brea Police Department.

Police said Romero was charged with seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a child under the age 14.

Police said Romero possibly had exposure to other children and asked for the public to identify any potential victims. Detectives said they do not know if there are any other potential victims.

Romero was being held in Orange County jail on $1 million bail since he was rearrested on Feb. 26.

It was unclear if Romero had an attorney.

Anyone with information was asked to call Detective Dave Wearp with Brea Police Department at 714-671-4438.
