Police Arrest Felon Who Allegedly Kidnapped Teenager at Gunpoint

"The suspect later told the victim he was going to be her pimp and intended to force her to commit commercial sex acts."

A 33-year-old convicted felon has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a teenaged girl at gunpoint from outside a high school and then sexually assaulting her before trying to force her to commit commercial sex acts, authorities said Friday.

Jaisen Lacount of Los Angeles was arrested Thursday in Lakewood, according to sheriff's Lt. Barry Hall. The girl, who was a stranger to Lacount, was kidnapped about 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 as she waited for a bus after leaving school, Hall said. He did not specify the school or its location.

According to the sheriff's department, Lacount was in a white Ford truck when he stopped next to the girl and tried to start a conversation, the lieutenant said.

"The under-aged victim tried to walk away but the suspect produced a handgun and ordered her to get inside his truck," he said.

"The suspect drove the victim to the downtown area and kept her in his vehicle for several hours before sexually assaulting her on a residential street. The suspect later told the victim he was going to be her pimp and intended to force her to commit commercial sex acts. The suspect provided her with instructions and condoms, forced her to remove her sweat pants and put her out of his truck wearing only underwear, under the belief that she had agreed to work for him."

"The girl said she feared being shot if she refused, but once released
from the truck, she called her mother and was taken to a hospital," Hall said.

"Detectives from the sheriff's Human Trafficking Bureau began investigating and soon identified Lacount as the suspect," Hall said.

At the time of his arrest, Lacount had driven to a location where he thought he was going to meet the victim and she was going to work for him, according to Hall.

After arresting Lacount, detectives obtained warrants to search his home in the 800 block of West 98th Street in South Los Angeles as well as his vehicle and "recovered property stolen from the victim, a handgun, and other items linking him to the crime," Hall said.

Authorities did not disclose the felony of which Lacount was previously convicted. He was being held in lieu of $1.55 million bail, according to sheriff's inmate records.
