One suspect was in custody and police were searching for a second suspect after the pair led police officers on a vehicle pursuit Monday.
The pursuit began about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Fulton Avenue and Kittridge Street, said Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
The suspect crashed his vehicle into an LAPD cruiser in the area of Laurel Canyon and Magnolia boulevards and fled the scene on foot, according to media reports.
A K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect, Im said.
An LAPD detective at the scene said that the search was on for two suspects, Marie De La Torre and David Sanchez, and that De La Torre had kidnapped an 11-month baby about three weeks ago from the Van Nuys area.
The male suspect was taken into custody, but the search continues for De La Torre.
