Search for Stolen Car Pursuit Driver On Caltech Campus Ends in Arrest

Police were pursuing a stolen car when the driver ditched the vehicle and ran onto the Caltech Campus.

A stolen car pursuit driver was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after crashing, then ditching the vehicle and running off into the Caltech campus, prompting a large police search.

The chase began around 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to Pasadena police.

The driver crashed the suspected stolen vehicle on Del Mar and Colorado boulevards and then ran off into the nearby campus.

The driver was found around midnight with the help of a police dog, said Lt. John Luna of the Pasadena Police Department, adding that no officers or students were injured in the incident. He was taken to a hospital after he was bit by a K-9, Luna said.

Police set up a perimeter around campus. Authorities were searching the campus door-to-door.

Caltech students on social media reported getting text alerts from the school to stay inside and lock their doors.
