Police Seek Hit-and Run Driver Who Killed Motorcyclist, Passenger

The driver ran away from the scene, police said.

Authorities Saturday are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the suspect who fled the scene on foot from a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV that killed a motorcyclist and his passenger.

The crash was reported at 8:37 p.m. Friday at 7740 Valmont St., near Mount Gleason Avenue, in the Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The motorcyclist was going westbound on Foothill Boulevard when a 2007 Ford Tahoe going eastbound on Foothill Boulevard made a left turn onto northbound Valmont Street, where it collided with the motorcycle, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

A woman aboard the bike was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said, and paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The SUV driver fled the scene on foot, and police found the SUV "down the street," Lopez said.

The LAPD's Valley Traffic Division detectives asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at (818) 644-8115.
