Officers fired shots at a man who barricaded himself in a Hollywood residence, but the man was not struck and was taken into custody early Saturday.
The incident began at 4:50 p.m. Friday when an assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 5600 block of Fernwood Avenue, near the Hollywood (101) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Responding officers encountered a barricaded man and a SWAT team was requested at the scene, police said.
Details about the initial assault call were not available but police said no one was injured.
Sometime after 8 p.m. police fired their guns. What prompted officers to shoot was not reported but police said no officers were injured.
The standoff came to an end at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. He was taken to a hospital in police custody, police said.
It wasn't clear whether the man was armed.
