A first-of-its-kind order by the governor's office means mail-in ballots were sent to all registered and active voters in California. Here's a look at how many have been returned and other early voting figures in advance of the Nov. 3 election.

A record number of California voters have already cast ballots for the Nov. 3 election at county elections offices, by mail and at hundreds of ballot drop boxes around the region. 

Consider this. About 14.6 million votes were cast in the 2016 presidential election in California. By Monday, more than than 11 million people already returned their ballots before Election Day in the nation's most populous state.

Below, you can use this interactive to track advance voting numbers in California and across the country. Use the pulldown menu to select a state and you’ll find details on the number of mail-in ballots sent to voters, how many have been returned and the percentage of votes cast in advance this year compared to the 2016 General Election. 

As of Monday, more than 11.2 million advance ballots had been cast. That figure is 132 percent of the advance ballots cast in the 2016 General Election.

Note: Advance ballots are not counted by elections officials in California until Election Day.
