Search Canceled After Missing Swimmer Found in Ralphs

The overnight search and rescue effort to find a missing swimmer in Manhattan Beach early Friday morning was called off after the man was found in a grocery store, authorities said.

The man was reported missing around 2:30 a.m. after he and his friend went swimming, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The two men jumped off of the pier. One of the two men swam back to shore but didn't see his friend so he called 911, according to the Manhattan Police Department.

Police said the 23-year-old missing man from Oklahoma was found at a nearby Ralphs.

Police said the two men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

More than 20 lifeguards, firefighters, and police officers were joined the search and rescue effort.

Police said the men ignored signs warning beachgoers to not jump off the pier and the two could face misdemeanor charges since it is illegal in Los Angeles County.
