Search Ends After Man Seen Jumping off Venice Pier Found Safe at Home

An hours-long search ended Saturday morning after a man who reportedly jumped into water at Venice Beach was found safe, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. near the Venice Pier, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A lifeguard and a witness saw the man, identified as David Matthew Rose, leave his things on the pier and dive into the water, authorities said.

Crews closed the pier as dive teams, helicopters and ocean vessels combed the area.

Deputies went to the man's home at about 9:50 a.m. and found him unharmed, the Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed.
