Road Rage Shooting on 118 Freeway Injures 2-Year-Old Boy

Authorities are still searching for the shooter early Sunday on the 118 Freeway

A 2-year-old child was shot twice during a road rage confrontation on a Southern California freeway, but he is expected to recover.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Saul Gomez said the boy was shot early Sunday morning along the 118 Freeway in the Sylmar area. The boy was wounded in both legs, according to authorities.

Several rounds were fired.

Gomez said the shooting appeared to stem from a road rage confrontation that may have started on another freeway, possibly the 210 Freeway. He said investigators were still trying to determine the exact motive.

Gomez said the boy was shot in both legs, underwent surgery and was in stable condition Monday.

Police were looking for the driver of an older-model gray sedan, described as a Honda or Toyota.
