Crash in Santa Monica Shuts Down PCH in Both Directions

A collision involving a Jeep and a motorcycle Monday in Santa Monica left the rider seriously injured and forced the closure of a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway during the afternoon rush.

The crash was reported about 5:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of PCH, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic was halted in both directions.

Vehicles headed for northbound PCH were diverted from the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway to Fourth Street and southbound traffic was diverted at California Incline, according to the CHP, which issued a SigAlert.

Northbound PCH was reopened about 7:10 p.m., according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The Santa Monica Police Department reported that all lanes were reopened at 9:36 p.m.
