A baby boy was found safe after his father reported that he may have been picked up into a trash truck in Santa Ana Tuesday.
A man flagged down a trash truck and said that his son had been playing in trash cans and could have become stuck, according to Santa Ana Police spokesman Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
When police arrived, the man took off running, Bertagna said, and he was believed to be under the influence. The boy was not inside the truck, which was searched.
The boy was found safe with his mother.
The man was later arrested.
