Shooting Near USC Campus, Suspect at Large

The victim, in his 20s, suffered two gun shot wounds and is in critical condition.

Police are looking for a man who shot a victim at an apartment complex just north of the USC campus Friday night.

The shooting occurred at The Lorenzo Apartments at 325 Adams Blvd around 11:30 p.m. USC issued a campus-wide emergency alert advising students to "stay away from the area" and "seek shelter in a secure location until the incident is resolved."

A witness said the shooting occurred during a party.

The apartment complex was on lock down while police sarched the area for the suspect. Residents were allowed to go back to their homes at 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, in his 20s, suffered two gun shot wounds and is undergoing surgery at California Hospital. He is currently in critical condition, police said.

The victim was not a USC student, officials said.

"So we were at a party and all you heard was 'boom, boom, boom.' The music shut off completely, okay. And there was just fighting," a witness said. "I knew right there that it could be a situation that I didn’t want to be in. I jumped off the balcony, me and about 10 other people, we were hanging off the 4th floor, one hand, dropped from the balcony and went out the exit."

The shooter was described as a man in his 20s.
