Double Shooting Near Sizzler Restaurant in Ventura Leaves 1 Dead

Residents were told to stay inside and lock their doors as police searched for a man in connection with a fatal double shooting in front of a Sizzler restaurant in Ventura Wednesday, police said.

The man connected to the shooting was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m., Ventura police said.

The double shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Sizzler at 4017 Main Street just before 5 p.m. after an altercation, according to the Ventura Police Department.

After the shooting left one man dead and another injured, a group fled in a car. Police were pursuing a vehicle that may have been linked to the shooting before the driver crashed at Blackburn Road and Petit Avenue.

Three were taken into custody, but one man was still on the run, police said.

Police asked residents to lock their doors and stay inside as they searched for a man wearing a green shirt near Cambria and Saticoy avenues.

The wounded male victim was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Main Street was shut down in both directions as police investigated.
