For those adrenaline junkies seeking a new thrill, Six Flags Magic Mountain is adding a dose of virtual reality to a classic attraction.
In partnership with Samsung, the New Revolution ride equips riders with virtual reality goggles to feel every twist, turn and loop as they become co-pilots in the cockpit of a fighter jet.
Six Flags developed a visually stunning world that syncs with the coaster's track and gives thrill seekers a 360-degree view of a city under attack by aliens, created with the help of technology firm Oculus VR.
The battle begins when riders navigate dangerously through the narrow city streets, up and over skyscrapers while avoiding obstacles and incoming fire from alien drones.
One feature allows riders to tap their VR headsets and fire the jet's guns at targets that appear while the coaster slowly makes its way up the lift.
The virtual reality feature is also being added to rides at nine other Six Flags parks across the country, as part of the first virtual reality coasters in North America launching this year, park officials said. The Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas had its debut on March 10.
The New Revolution opens for technical rehearsals to Season Pass Holders on Saturday and will open to the general public on April 21.
