Ultralight Plane Crashes in Hesperia, Killing 1

An ultralight plane crashed near Hesperia Airport Tuesday morning, killing the only person inside the aircraft, San Bernardino fire officials said.

Robert Alezander, 55, of Hesperia, was killed when the plane he was piloting, a Quickstar MXL II, crashed at around 10 a.m. off of runway two, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner.

His plane became airborne before going into an aerodynamic stall and collided into a field north of the airport, according to the coroner's office.

Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash majorly damaged the plane, Sherwin said.

Details on what caused the crash were not immediately available.
