Small Private Aircraft ‘Belly Skid' Lands at Van Nuys Airport: Fire Officials

A small private aircraft carrying five people skidded on its belly while landing at Van Nuys Airport Tuesday night, fire officials said.

Los Angeles Fire officials said that no one aboard was injured in the landing.

The flight was a medical facility transfer, and was completed via ground ambulance after the belly landing.

Fire officials responded at 9:33 p.m. to the airport located at 16461 Sherman Way after the landing gear was "compromised."

Officials said it was a King Air craft, which is a twin turboprop craft that typically seats 10.
