Investigators are trying to determine why a South LA building was engulfed in flames early Thursday morning.
Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers noticed smoke and fire coming from a building on the 11500 block of Vermont Avenue just after 1 a.m.
Firefighters quickly responded and were able to put out the fire in 10 minutes, officials said. Most of their efforts were concentrated on the 2nd floor of the building, which officials said appeared to be vacated.
The building is believed to house a medical marijuana dispensary, as a sign on the window says “Vermont Clinic.” It is unclear whether the fire is connected to the dispensary.
The building also houses a medical clinic and a dentist office.
There were no injuries or arrests.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
