Los Angeles Lakers Announce 2015-16 Schedule

The 2015-16 LA Lakers schedule features a home against the LA Clippers on Christmas Day

The 2015-16 NBA schedule became public on Wednesday, which of course means the Los Angeles Lakers' schedule is out, too. In the Lakers' regular season opener, no. 1 pick Karl-Anthony Towns comes to LA in what should be no. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell's NBA regular season debut.

From there, the Lakers play every other day until they hit the East Coast for an early five-game road trip that includes New York, Brooklyn, Miami and Orlando. That early November road trip, however, is only an appetizer for a lengthy December roadie that features eight road games in 12 nights. Also, the first game on that roadie is in Philadelphia (Dec. 1) and could well be Kobe Bryant's last appearance in the city where he attended high school.

December also features a Christmas home game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers will act as hosts, but the Clippers' stacked roster likely have the "visitors" favored in the holiday game. On New Year's Day a week later, the Lakers welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to Staples Center, as no. 3 pick Jahlil Okafor makes his only pilgrimage to LA this season, as he plays under the banners and retired jerseys that overlooked him in the 2015 NBA Draft.

January arrives as a relatively easy month for the purple and gold with regards to travel, as they play 12 of their 17 games at home. The five road games are at Sacramento, at Golden State, at Utah, at Portland and at the Clippers. Even though no month in the NBA is easy, January is favorable with regards to travel considering only one of those road games is played in a different time zone--Utah.

February is a light month due to the All-Star break. The Lakers only play 10 games in February, but seven of those 10 games come on the road. March balances out that travel, though, with 12 of 15 games coming at home and the farthest travel city being Denver.

The Lakers' regular season wraps on April 13 at home to the Utah Jazz, but a week earlier, the Lakers and Clippers play a back-to-back home and away set that should offer a unique opportunity to compare and contrast the two drastically different atmospheres at Staples Center.

Other notable games include at Boston on Dec. 30 and at Chicago on Feb. 21 (see full schedule). The Lakers' regular season starts on Oct. 28 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Staples Center.
