All eyes will be on Lindsay Vonn Wednesday (Tuesday night in the U.S.) as the alpine skier takes to the slope seeking her second Olympic downhill gold. But while many will be rooting for Vonn, who has 81 World Cup victories under her belt, a vocal group will also be watching hoping for an epic fail.
The "haters" came out in force when Vonn failed to medal earlier in the games, taking exception to Vonn telling CNN in December she hoped to "represent the people of the United States, not the president" at the Olympics, adding that she wouldn't accept an invitation to the White House if she were to win gold at Pyeongchang.
The social media hate aside, Vonn said she's trying not to dwell on the Pyeongchang Games possibly being her last.
"I've tried not to think about it as being my last Olympic downhill. Just focus on the moment, the right here and the right now. And I think later I'll reflect on how much I enjoyed it and how much my teammates and my coaches made it special for me," Vonn said ahead of Wednesday's contest. "But you can't get too sentimental right now, because I still have to race. I still have to be focused. And afterward, I'll do some reflecting."
