A traffic jam on the 10 Freeway was so bad this week, the "voice of the Clippers" was unable to make the game, the Desert Sun reported Thursday.
Ralph Lawler was stuck in traffic for more than six hours Wednesday as he and his wife tried to commute from La Quinta to the Staples Center.
"There was not a good plan unless you had a friend with a helicopter," Lawler told the newspaper.
"Nothing keeps me from being on the air, except this is almost like an act of God," he said.
While stuck in traffic, Michael Smith handled the team's televised play-by-play announcing.
The gridlocked was caused by two fatal crashes on the 10 Freeway. Other drivers also reported heart attacks, anxiety attacks and overheated cars, the Desert Sun reported.
"As frustrating as it was, we're a lot luckier than a lot of people," he told the Sun.
