Doc Rivers is NBA's Western Conference Coach of the Month

With an 11-3 record in January, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was named the NBA's Western Conference Coach of the Month.

LOS ANGELES – After a record-tying month of January for the Los Angeles Clippers, head coach Doc Rivers was named the NBA's Western Conference Coach of the month on Monday.

Rivers captained the team to an 11-3 record in the month of January, the winningest month in franchise history. Comparatively, the Golden State Warriors went 15-3 in the month of January, but the Clippers accomplishment is all the more impressive considering they were without their All-Star power forward Blake Griffin.

With Griffin out for the start of 2016, the Clippers offense was the third best in the league in field goal percentage (47.3%), 4th in three-point percentage (30.3%), sixth in points per game (107.9) and fewest in turnovers at just 11.4 per game.

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwayne Casey was Rivers' counterpart in the Eastern Conference as the league's only Canadian team currently finds themselves ending the month on an 11-game winning streak.

The Clippers will next take the court on Wednesday night at Staples Center when they face Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
