Dodgers on the Brink of Elimination after 13-7 Blowout Loss to Mets in Game 3

The Mets walloped the Dodgers 13-7 in Game 3 of the National League Division Series at Citi Field on Monday night.

Fueled by a fiery and furious New York City crowd, the Mets walloped the Dodgers 13-7 to take a 2-1 series lead in Game 3 of the NLDS at Citi Field on Monday night.

Travis d'Arnaud and Yoenis Cespedes both homered and Curtis Granderson knocked in five runs as the Mets retaliated with their bats after Chase Utley's slide in Game 2.

Utley was in uniform before the game after appealing a two-game suspension passed down from MLB on Sunday. The appeal allows Utley to play until his hearing is heard, but the NY fans were the one's who let Utley hear it throughout the night.

Utley was booed profusely during pregame player introductions and chants of "Ut-Ley Sucks!" and "We Want Ut-Ley!" rang out over the course of the nine-inning rout of the Dodgers.

Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs in the second inning thanks to four straight hits. Yasmani Grandal capped the inning off with a bases-loaded single to right field, and all three runs scored after a throwing error by Granderson.

The Mets responded in the bottom half of the inning when Granderson hit a bases-clearing double with two outs off Brett Anderson to give the Mets a 4-3 lead heading into the third inning. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, they would only pile on from there.

D'Arnaud hit a two-run homer in the third inning to give the Mets a 6-3 lead, and Cespedes hammered a fastball into the second deck in left field that all of Manhattan heard off the bat.

Cespedes finished 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored.

The Dodgers cried "Uncle" after that, burning through their bullpen as they waived the white flag.

Adrian Gonzalez hit a solo home run off 42-year-old Bartolo Colon in the top of the seventh inning and Howie Kendrick hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth as the Dodgers tried to get back into the game.

With their season on the line, the Dodgers will start Clayton Kershaw on three days rest in Game 4 on Tuesday as LA is on the brink of elimination.

Mets fans were given a surprise when injured shortstop Ruben Tejada walked out of the dugout and on to the field with a blue cane and his fractured right leg in a cast during pregame introductions.

Game Notes:
In the first ever playoff game at Citi Field, the Mets scored a franchise postseason record 13 runs. 20 total runs scored in the game was an NLDS record.

The first pitch of the game was delayed due to the replay phone in the Dodgers' dugout not operating. Harvey threw an extra five minutes of warm up pitches while the phone was fixed.
