Dodgers Starting Pitching Carrying Team

A five-game winning streak at the start of a long summer of baseball can hardly be considered a season-long trend. But it is an encouraging sign.

The Dodgers starting pitching might be better than everyone thought.

Five straight wins, five solid outings from his starting pitchers.
"Now I hope Randy Wolf repeats what he did last Sunday against Colorado," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said in preparation for Friday night's Dodgers opener against the Rockies. "We're in a good spot right now and I hope we continue it."

Ten games into the season, the Dodgers have the second best team ERA in baseball, 3.10. They have the lowest on-base percentage against (.286) and the lowest WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched).

It’s a long season and health will play a big part in how the season wears on, but this is as promising a beginning as the Dodgers could have hoped for. And if it continues, the season may well stretch into October again.
