Ducks Selanne Gets Sliced, Out 4 to 6 Weeks

For a guy who is 38, Teemu Selanne has looked like one of the Ducks youngest players this season. He leads the team with 14 goals and is third on the team with 27 points.

But when Edmonton’s Denis Grebeshkov knocked him awkwardly into the boards Friday night, he didn’t bounce back like a kid just out o juniors. And with good reason, he needed eight stitches in his leg from where a sharp skate sliced his skin.

It actually sliced more than that, slicing several tendons in his quadricep. The result is that the Selanne will be out of action at least a month, maybe six weeks.

The injury bug has hit the Ducks hard, defenseman Francois Beauchemin has already been lost for the season due to a knee injury.
