Stranded Dog Rescued in Angeles National Forest

A search and rescue team saved a dog stranded in the Angeles National Forest early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies received a call around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday regarding two hikers whose dog was stranded about 3 miles north of Mt. Zion Trail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said the 80-pound dog was unable to complete the hike. Rescuers used a litter basket to lower the dog down the trail.

The two hikers were reunited with the dog. No injuries were reported.
