Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Pizza Hut with a 12-year-old boy as his accomplice, according to Placentia Police Department.
The robbery occurred at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of E. Yorba Linda Boulevard. The suspect, armed with a handgun, jumped over the restaurant counter, grabbed the clerk and demanded cash, according to Placentia Police Department.
Police said the suspect was assisted by what they believed to be was a 12-year-old boy who held the door open for the suspect.
The suspect reportedly fled on foot heading West towards McCormack Lane with his young accomplice.
No one was injured during the robbery and police said the total theft was about $100 in cash.
Jack Vang, owner of a neighboring doughnut shop, said the Pizza Hut seemed like a safe place and was shocked that a child was involved in the robbery.
"I can't believe he used a kid to get involved in this," Vang said.
Police were not able to get surveillance video from the Pizza Hut or surrounding businesses, and are asking the community to come forward if they have any information about the robbery.
The suspect was described as a man standing at about 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. Police said he wore a dark baseball hat, sunglasses, a bandana to cover his face and a gray tracksuit..
