He crashed the bus into some parked cars before running from officers

A suspect stole a shuttle bus near Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday night and then crashed the vehicle into some parked cars before fleeing.

The bus was reported stolen about 8:55 p.m. in the 8600 block of Airport Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

As officers were trying to locate the vehicle, it crashed into some parked cars, police said.

The suspect got onto the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway but got out of the bus north of the Marina (90) Freeway in the Playa del Rey area and fled.

The freeway was temporarily shut down until officers caught up with the suspect in the area of Sawtelle Boulevard and Braddock Drive, according to a report from the scene.

It was not immediately clear who owned the shuttle bus.
