A woman arrested after leading police on a slow-speed chase in the South Los Angeles area was being held Friday on suspicion of stabbing a man to death earlier this week, police said.
The pursuit began about 11:45 a.m. Thursday near Main Street and 88th Place and ended about a half-hour later near Avalon Boulevard and 43rd Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Tasma Brown, 40, was booked on suspicion of murder, said LAPD Officer Tony Im. She was held on $2 million bail, according to the sheriff's department.
Brown surrendered following a brief standoff with officers after their patrol vehicles blocked her car at an intersection. A child was in the car with her.
Brown and her vehicle matched descriptions from a fatal stabbing that occurred about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Vernon and Central avenues, according to Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD's Media Relations office.
Officers responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call found a man with a stab wound at the location. The victim -- identified by the coroner's office as 27-year-old Ronald Miller -- was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Madison said.
