A male bicyclist in his 50s was fatally struck Monday evening by a motorist who was allegedly driving drunk, police said today.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Bolsa Chica Road north of Heil Avenue, Lt. Bo Svendsbo of the Huntingon Beach Police Department said. The victim was identified by coroner's officials Tuesday as 55-year-old Michael Peter Bastien.
The cyclist was heading southbound on Bolsa Chica when he was struck by a Mercedes Benz sedan driven by an unidentified male suspect, Svendsbo said. Both men were Huntington Beach residents.
