Taco Restaurant Employees Robbed of $750 at Gunpoint

Martin Contreras, one of the employees who was robbed, said the men came in asking about carne asada tacos.

Employees at a Pacoima restaurant are thankful to be alive after being robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday night by two suspects, all of it caught on surveillance video.

The video shows one of two men pulling a gun on two employees shortly before 11:30 p.m. at Rigo's Taco at 10750 Glenoaks Blvd. They were last seen exiting the restaurant, and as of Wednesday afternoon no arrests had been made, detectives at Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Station said.

Detectives said they hope the footage will help them find the robbers.

Martin Contreras, one of the employees who was robbed, said the men first asked about carne asada tacos before robbing the place, he said.

The man who pulled out a gun said he would shoot if the employees called police, Contreras said. Contreras's co-worker handed the robbers a cash-filled drawer.

Manager Armando Barajas said the robbers got away with about $750, but the important thing is that his employees were not hurt.

"The money, no problem. The money coming every time," Barajas said. "People — no, not people."

One of the man shown in the surveillance footage is wearing a sleeveless black hoodie with a white star print, and the other is wearing an orange long-sleeved hoodie and a dark beanie.
