Comic-Con Gone to the Moms

Comic-Con has become a favorite for mothers

They started lining up last Saturday. That was five days before the event. There were lots of kids, lots of young people and then there were the moms.

"It's funny because you do see a lot of folks that are your standard geek," said Karen Fuhr. "And I'm a mom with two teenage daughters."

Fuhr is one mom of a lot of moms coming to Comic-Con this year. They're coming for the comics, for sure.

"We like the girly stuff," said Kris Hedden, who is a fan of comic books more than movies. "The Hello Kitty, the My Little Pony."

But other moms have other reasons to be there.

"I'm not a big comic book reader, but there's a lot of other things going on," said Meghan Lansing of Orange County. "I'm obsessed with a lot of the HBO and Showtime shows."

Lansing traveled from Orange County, with her 3-year-old son, in search of something to satisfy her obsession. She says she might not have come if her son was any younger, though.

"There's a lot more infants than I was expecting," said Lansing. "I don't think I would dare to bring an infant."

Also, some of these moms were not in that category when they first came to the event.

"There's a lot of other things besides comics that I can get interested in," Lansing said.

It's going to be that way through Sunday.
