Beat The Lines This Season at Knott's, Disneyland With New Mobile Ticketing Devices

Park officials say the new ticket availability over a smartphone is for the convenience of park-goers this summer

Summer heat may be the ultimate excuse to stay in, but that shouldn't stop theme park attendees from having the opportunity to beat the lines this season.

Two Southern California resorts, Disneyland Resort and Knott's Berry Farm, have recently launched mobile ticketing opportunities for their park-goers this summer.

"This is one more way we can make the guest experience better," said Melissa Britt, spokeswoman for Disneyland Resort. "We weren't really trying to solve a problem."

The Anaheim park will not be cutting back on employees due to the new convenience device. Instead, Disney California Adventure has recently added 3,000 new jobs when it reopened in June this year, according to Britt.

As of now, the Disneyland Resort application allows mobile phone users to purchase a one-day ticket through the Disneyland website on their mobile device. In the future, the park will expand the application for park-goers to buy tickets for two or three days.

Ticket purchasers for the Anaheim amusement park can either use the barcode on their mobile device or print out a PDF of their ticket. Any turnstile before entry to the park is able to read the barcode.

Jennifer Blazey, spokeswoman for Knott's Berry Farm, said that the "Knott's Berry Farm" app is an "ongoing, growing program."

The Buena Park amusement park's free app -- aside from the mobile ticket purchasing -- is equipped with GPS mapping of the park, parking locator, integrated social media options, and more.

The app, originally available May 20, will not be replacing any employees, said Blazey.

Ticket-goers for Knott's will be able to scan their barcode before entry at the gates.
