Teenage Girl Kidnapped and Sexually Asssaulted in SGV, Sheriff's Deputies Say

She was released near where the men picked her up in the community of Bassett, LA County Sheriff's deputies said

Neighbors on Monday reacted with sadness and anger over the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

It happened in the unincorporated community of Bassett, near La Puente. The victim was walking on Van Wig Avenue near Temple at 6:30 p.m. Saturday when a car stopped in front of her with three men inside.

The men grabbed her and pulled her into the car where she told investigators she was sexually assaulted, before releasing her into the same community, said Deputy Kelvin Moody, of the Los Angeles County County Sheriff's Department.

Cindy Andrade, a Bassett resident, was in shock.

"I can't believe it," she said. "It's really devastating to hear that."

Michelle Cervantes, another Bassett resident, was saddened.

"It's sad to see that happening," she said. "She's just a little girl."

The car may be a 1990s black Honda Civic with a possible partial license plate starting with 2WE.

Robert Cervantes found out on social media the victim is his friend.

"She's an innocent little girl walking in the street," he said. "How can somebody come and do that?"

Two of the men are described as being in their late 20s. No age description was provided for the third man.
