A group of good Samaritans helped a teenager escape an attempted kidnapping in Pasadena Saturday evening.
The victim, who is in her late teens, was walking in the 400 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue around 8:15 p.m. when a man driving nearby got out of his Dodge Ram pickup truck, grabbed her hair and tried to drag her inside his car, according to Pasadena Police Department Lt. William Grisafe. She screamed for help and a couple of good Samaritans ran to her aid, prompting the attacker to let go of her and speed away, Grisafe said.
The attacker was last seen getting onto the westbound 210 Freeway, according to Grisafe. Police said he was a thin Latino man with a light complexion, who was in his early 20s and about 5 feet 7 inches tall.
The woman's knees and elbows were scraped from being dragged, but she was otherwise uninjured.
Police are asking people with more information about the attack to contact them at 626-744-4241 or submit an anonymous tip to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
